There are millions of sufferers worldwide who experience the pain of prolapse and hemorrhoids. Because of the sensitive nature of the subject, many do so in silence instead of seeking treatment. There are many who would rather deal with the condition on their own than to discuss treatment options, or the symptoms, that they are having associated with their condition. Many don’t realize that there are some effective treatments that can completely change their life and bring about long term relief at a minimal cost in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

What are Hemorrhoids and Prolapse?
Hemorrhoids and prolapse are conditions where there is a breakdown of the connective and muscle tissue fibers that are located around the rectum. When the tissue is weakened, the cushioning of the internal structure of the anus cavity may start to protrude to the exterior of the anus which causes kinks that lead to swelling and pain. These kinks, or inflamed veins, are called hemorrhoids. They can occur both internally and externally in and around the anal cavity. For most individuals who experience prolapse and hemorrhoids it is a short lived condition. Often the hemorrhoids will begin to dissipate over time and the swelling will cease without the need for any intervention. Although for a few, it is a chronic condition that requires medical treatment to alleviate the symptoms in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

Because of the nature of the region that hemorrhoids effects, most feel embarrassment at discussing them. They would rather find a way to use over the counter treatment that is mostly ineffective to treat not the hemorrhoid itself, but the symptoms that it causes. The symptoms can range from mild to severe, depending on the location, the size, and the duration of the hemorrhoid.

In previous decades the treatment for hemorrhoids and prolapse has been invasive and not highly effective. The traditional surgical options have not only been painful, they have required an extensive recovery period, and for some no universal relief has been found. Because of the lack of any real cure for them, individuals will most often not do anything to change their circumstances. There are better procedures adopted in recent years that have found some real effectiveness for hemorrhoids and prolapse sufferers. They provide an alternative to previous methods that have a shorter recovery time, quicker return to activity, less invasive and carries less risk involved.

What are the Symptoms of Hemorrhoids and Prolapse?
The symptoms of people with hemorrhoids are very similar between individuals. Complicating the diagnosis of them, is the fact that there are other conditions that can cause the same symptoms. Individuals who have hemorrhoids will normally experience blood during bowel movement. It can either be accompanied by a pain like a sore, or be painless in nature. The blood is bright red and usually appears on the surface of toilet paper when wiping. At times it is enough to be seen in the toilet bowl itself, but normally it will be only a trace amount. Although it can cause alarm, most of the time, it is not a condition that will cause serious consequences.

A person who has prolapse or a hemorrhoid may also have pain or itching at the site. The pain may worsen upon sitting or when having a bowel movement. It is felt commonly in the anal region. Pain and discomfort may accompany only those activities when there is sitting, but for other people it is constant. When feeling around the anus there is normally swelling, or a small lump that appears on the exterior of the anus. The spot at which the swelling exists is usually sensitive and painful to touch. If the hemorrhoid is large enough, in some cases there may be fecal incontinence that accompanies it.

Depending on where the hemorrhoid is located is where the pain is felt. If it is internal you will not be able to either physically feel, or see it. When internal, they do not cause the same discomfort either. The only real symptom that will be known is when there is blood evidence. Although when straining to have a bowel movement it is possible to push the hemorrhoid to the exterior which is what is referred to as prolapse.

What is the Best Procedure to Alleviate Hemorrhoids or Prolapse?
The procedure which is most commonly recommended and the one that seems to enjoy one of the better success rates in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica is PPH. Not a new option, it has been around for over 20 years, and only continues to be perfected. PPH attempts to eliminate the inflamed tissue by placing a pursestring suture around it. An instrument is then used to pull up the prolpasing tissue witih a stapler device.

PPH is a different method for eradicating hemorrhoids and their discomfort. Far less invasive than other surgical procedures available, there is normally less associated pain and risk. The anatomy of the anal canal is unique in that essentially no pain is felt above 2 centimeters internally. The surgeon uses a specially designed stapling device that is shaped in a circular manner, that places the incisions in the area where pain is not experienced. The overall goal of the procedure is to cut off the blood supply to the internal hemorrhoids and within 4 to 6 weeks time there is a significant reduction in their size and swelling.

The advantages of PPH over conventional surgery is that it requires a much reduced recovery time. Most patients can have it performed on an outpatient basis, and are back to regular activities within a few days post operative. Also there is less need for pain killers afterwards, which is always preferred for the patient. The only disadvantage to the procedure is that it may not always be effective enough to completely diminish the hemorrhoid. There are times when it is significantly large enough that the instrument may take too much tissue which can result in stretching of the Sphincter muscle. When that happens, it is possible to sustain long term damage to the anus leading to fecal incontinence.

Coming a long way from conventional methods for treating hemorrhoids and prolapse, the PPH procedure has found much success for many sufferers. Many people are more likely to seek medical treatment when the surgery is much less invasive and the odds for it benefiting are so measurable. By performing it on an outpatient basis, and without the need to take extensive recovery time, individuals are more apt to elect to have the procedure done.

If you are experiencing the pain and discomfort that accompanies hemmorhoids and prolapse and over the counter remedies are doing nothing to help, seek the medical advice of a professional to discuss your surgical options like PPH.

PPH is a technique developed in the early 90's that reduces the prolapse of hemorrhoidal tissue by excising a band of the prolapsed anal mucosa membrane with the use of a circular stapling device.

In PPH, the prolapsed tissue is pulled into a device that allows the excess tissue to be removed while the remaining hemorrhoidal tissue is stapled. This restores the hemorrhoidal tissue back to its original anatomical position.
